See you at 4th Street
Okay, I have a confession to make, I love beer and I love food. One of the greatest places in Columbus to get beer and food is 4th Street Bar. Now I haven't been able to frequent 4th Street for that long (you have to be 21 to enter). But I have thoroughly enjoyed (maybe too much) my time at 4th Street.
First things first, the drinks. 4th Street does not have 40+ beers on draft, but they pick the good ones. They have I would say eight taps. The got the usuals of Bud Light, Stella, and Guinness, but they have craft beers and a rotating selection. At this time Yuengling had just expanded their reach to Indiana, so I had to of course get a Yuengling. Whenever I drink, I get a water along with my drink. This is so I do not dehydrate myself, slow down my drinking of alcohol, and I have something to sip in between drinks. I ALWAYS get water at a bar and I highly suggest it.
Next, food. 4th Street has a pretty big selection of foods. They have the traditional bar foods, but they also provide some surprising dishes. Their tenderloin is one of the BEST, but that is not a everyday (even every month) meal. They have awesome pizza, duck tacos, and great sandwiches. My go to meal for when I don't want to break the bank on calories is the Korean BBQ Mahi Mahi. It comes with vegetables and rice.
Why I choose the Korean BBQ Mahi Mahi
First off, it is a complete meal. I do not have to choose sides (where I could choose fries instead of vegetables) and it is filling. Fish is always going to be a good choice at restaurants, pending it is not fried, since it is a low calorie protein. Mahi Mahi is not a overly fish-y fish and it comes with a tastey Korean BBQ sauce. It is topped with a great Asian slaw that provide crunch and texture. The vegetables are steamed, awesome, since that does not add any unnecessary calories. They give a correct portion of rice, not a big heeping pile of filler food.

Mahi Mahi with sauce: 120 calories

Tall Yuengling Beer: 225 calories
Grand Total: 590
For a nigh on the town, 590 calories is not too bad. All of my calories are guesstimates, and are based on approximate size and how they are cooked. But for 590 calories, I will take a tall glass of beer and a delicious meal. The Mahi Mahi is a great option if you are looking to keep your calories in check without sacrificing flavor or a fun time.
I might not always eat the Mahi Mahi when I go to 4th Street (they have so many other tasty foods) but I do always have a good time.
